Weight Gain Shake
You may know that, in order to gain weight, you need to consume calories - lots of them. In fact, you will probably find that you need to consume so many calories that you simply cannot fit all that food into your small stomach. That's where the weight gain shake comes in.

A weight gain shake is a milk shake (or water shake) made with a special powder. This powder contains lots of protein, carbohydrates, and some fat thrown in for good measure. An example is "Mega Mass" from Weider or "Weight Gainer" from GNC Pro Performance. A typical nutritional breakdown per 100g might be something like this:
Energy | 1564 |
Protein | 12.5g |
Fat | 0.75g |
Carbohydrate | 80g |
Sodium | 126mg |
Potassium | 126mg |
This nutritional information is taken from Weight Gainer 1850.
One of the great things about weight gain shakes is that you can mix other ingredients with it. For example, try mixing in some yogurt, or fresh fruit. You can make your shake with water or milk - it's up to you. If you find that milk fills you up too much try water. And don't worry, weight gain shakes usually come in a variety of flavors such as vanilla, chocolate etc.
It is important to remember that a weight gain shake is simply a supplement. It is used so that you can load your body up with more (good) calories than you're able to eat using normal food. You should never replace a normal diet with a weight gain shake.

Preparing Your Weight Gain Shake
Given you might be consuming your weight gain shakes up to 3 times per day, it makes sense to have the proper equipment to make it. The easiest way to make a shake is with a blender. However, if you don't have a blender, or you don't want to spend the money on one, a cheaper alternative is a shaker bottle. Simply place your weight gain powder into it, fill it with milk or water, then shake hard!
