Beef Nutrition Facts

General Information

Beef is generally misunderstood. Despite being (relatively) high in fat, almost half the fat in beef is monounsaturated - the "good fat". This is the same fat that olive oil contains and can actually lower cholesterol. Also, almost half the saturated fat is stearic acid, which does not raise blood cholesterol levels. In fact, a good, lean cut of beef can be more nutritious than a skinless chicken breast.

Generally, the leanest cuts of beef have "round" or "loin" in their name.

So, whether your goal is to lose weight, gain weight, or maintain optimum health, don't avoid beef. Just make sure you go for a nice, lean cut!
