Leg Extension
The leg extension is an isolated exercise for your quads (front of your upper legs). It is a great complement to the lying leg curl, which concentrates on your hamstrings (back of your upper leg)
The leg extension requires a leg extension machine. You may need to adjust the machine so that the roller pads sit where your legs meet the top of your feet.
How to perform the leg extension
| Technique |
- Sit in the leg extension machine with your feet tucked under the roller pads
- Grab the side handles for support
- Lift the weight up until your legs are straight
- Return to starting position
- Repeat steps 3 & 4 until you've repeated the desired number of reps
|
| Number of Reps |
For building muscle size: 3 sets of between 6 - 8 reps. For muscle tone: 3 sets of between 12 - 15 reps.
